At FMX, we use MotionQuest Professional software,
which quantifies an in depth biomechanical assessment of your dynamic running gait.
Using predetermined tests it will build a dynamic profile of your gait enabling it to accurately prescribe a shoe perfectly suited
to your biomechanical needs, (taking your orthotic into account). You will also receive an individualised report detailing strategies
for strengthening and stretching the relevant muscles groups.
MotionQuest Professional was developed by experts in the field of biomechanics and shoe science* in conjunction with all 19
performance shoe manufacturers.
If you are not sure which type of shoe you should be wearing, it is advisable to get your running gait
checked. Foot Mechanix Podiatry are able to advise you regarding your foot-type and particular biomechanics
and suggest a suitable shoe.

Whilst new shoes today do not require the “breaking in” that once was necessary, it is wise to follow certain precautions:
- Do not go straight out and run your normal distance / time in a new pair of shoes
- For the first 3 days wear your shoes at home for 1 – 2 hours while training in the old pair
- On day 4 train in your shoes for 1/4 of your usual distance / time
- Increase your distance / time over the following 3 – 4 days until you can comfortably run your usual time
