It is with great pride that Karen Knightly of FMX Podiatry treats, supports and now sponsors the up and coming Irish Triathlete Emma Davis.
Karen had been treating Emma before her selection to the summer 2008 Olympics which were held in Beijing, in fact the prescription orthotics supplied to Emma were taken and used there.
Karen had been so impressed by the dedication and commitment that Emma had shown to such a grueling and demanding sport, that on hearing Emma had now decided to become a full time
professional athlete, Karen offered sponsorship in the effort to assist Emma in her goal for the 2012 Olympics which are to be held in London.
As with many athletes, with constant daily training injuries can be frequent should the wrong footwear be used. This is where Karen and FMX expertise in this field is on hand if required.
The importance and care taken to correctly prescribe orthotics, together with regular monitoring against wear and tear changes is a guaranteed service shown to all of her patients, not only to this Irish athlete.
We look forward to supporting Emma into the 2012 Olympics and wish her every success with her training and goals during the next 3 years.
"I have been working with Karen since I started to up my training back in 2006. I got shin splints so booked myself an appointment with Foot Mechanix to have
some custom orthotics made. Straight away I was impressed by Karen’s thorough approach. She spent a great deal of time assessing me and my training needs. When I left she gave
me a few sheets with exercises on to do to work on my biomechanical problems and told me which type of running shoes I should buy. The orthotics were very comfortable and effective.
In an endurance sport with a repetitive nature such as triathlon injuries are an unfortunate evil. Consequently anything we can do to reduce our exposure to injury is very useful.
I am confident that working with Karen significantly reduces this risk. I am very excited to have her support up to the Olympics in 2012."
