Verruca

A verruca is a wart on the foot which generally appears on the sole of the foot (although they can develop on the toes as well). It can look like a small, dark puncture wound but can turn slightly grey or brown with a dark spot in the middle of the affected area. It is very infectious, although through direct contact, so avoid touching the area as it can develop into a cluster of verrucae. If left untreated, verrucae have the potential to get bigger and can cause pain when walking.

There are many forms of treament for verruca removal including chemical therapy, freezing, homeopathy and removal under local anaesthetic. The Podiatrist will discuss the options and recommend the best treatment suitable taking into account various factors such as lifestyle, sports and worklife.
